Whitey Tighteys

It's time for a celebration! I AM OFFICIALLY DONE WITH MY TEN-PLUS YEARS OF CHANGING DIAPERS!!!*
Some were not optimistic. Some said it couldn't be done. But yes! My baby is potty trained!

The process wasn't even as painful as with a few of my other four. Yes, I did clean mess out of several pairs of training pants. Yes, there were a few puddles on the floor (but only once on carpet). Yes, I found the toilet literally overflowing with a mountain of toilet paper one morning. But it's done! NO MORE DIAPERS!*

I'm a little disappointed to discover that even though he sometimes sits on the toilet, his aim takes the stream right through the gap between the lid and the ceramic, so that I still have a puddle to clean up. But an experience tonight makes up for that fact. As we were leaving his grandparents' home, I turned to Kent and said, "Did you get the diaper bag?" In unison with synchronized sly smiles, we answered, "Noooo!"

Celebrate good times. Come on!

*True, I change diapers on some babies I tend each week. But at least it's not all day every day.

FYI: I highly recommend the book Toilet Training in Less Than A Day. I think it was published in the '70s. Most helpful if you read it before making any attempts at training, but still good if you want to improve what you're already trying.

Woo hoo, congratulations! You deserve something special with all the money you'll be saving from your diaper budget now! My advice is, even though he pees between the seat, don't teach him about standing up! You'll never have a decently clean bathroom again once that starts.

I am SO looking forward to that day. Only one more year!

I tried that book with Elise and it was a DISASTER. But most people have a lot of success with it. My oldest was just especially difficult to train.

And I agree about not teaching them to stand EVER. Unfortunately my youngest already stands in front of the toilet and thrusts forward his pelvis. I thought modeling of older brothers' (and dad's) behavior was going to be a good thing!

Congratulations! I can't believe he's old enough to potty trained already! I feel like the last time I really knew him he was still in the little baby carrier! But so was Kassidy. Maybe I should come home more often.

Yahoo! - We were visiting Bodens last night & I was thinking how nice it was to see little Amy in regular underwear instead of diapers. And thinking---now if we can just get Heber there. And magically he is there. This is great news. (Only people who have had to struggle day-by-day understand your joy.) By the way, I believe that was the book I used for you and your siblings. It backfired on you though because you had an expandable bladder. No matter how much fluid I gave you, you could still hold it for hours.
Anyway---congratulations.

Yep, I can still hold it for hours. Kent thinks I'm weird to only pee twice a day, and I think he's weird to pee a 8-12 times. (Too much information?)

What is really impressive is my sister, whom I believe "held it" for three days of Trek when she was a teenager so she wouldn't have to use the roadside. (Correct me if I'm wrong, Christy.)

I have certainly been enjoying my reprieve from diapers. I know it will end soon, but the break has still been nice. Congrats on the end of an era! (A stinky, messy era.)

Did you say TEN YEARS? You've officially diapered your way out of even having to change the diapers of your own grandkids! Way to go!
