It's gone! That weight has been steadily growing for two (or more?) years, and finally, today, I took it off. See for yourself.
A professional stylist friend of mine asked me several months ago if she could have the "honor" of taking off my locks when I was ready. I've listed it for sale online, and planned to cut when the offer was right. I got all sorts of wrong offers, but that's another story. Last week I was sick of my hair getting caught in the seat belt guide, my coat, and #5's grip. This week, when it got caught in the hair dryer, I was so glad I'd set the appointment to chop it. I can't wait to figure out how to style it and try new hair accessories. But mostly, I'm just glad that my head feels like it's floating with all that extra weight gone! Yea!

cute! i hate long hair on me. i think it looks good but it bothers me so much. you've inspired me. i'm ready for a cut!!
First, I have to say, as I always say, that people who CAN have long hair should! I would kill to be able to have long hair. So, I will set aside my bitterness just for a second to tell you, wow, you cut it really short! and it looks great, and now my bitterness is back as I say that it's not fair that some people (you) can look good with either long or short hair. I don't want to talk about it. . .
Oh, and what DID you do with your hair? Did you sell it? (Why are people wanting to buy hair?) or did you Locks of Love it or did you keep it for posterity. You could always make one of those pictures with your hair like the pioneers did.
(and sometime, I want to hear the stories of the offers you got, after all I told you about being solicited.)
Wow!! Shorter than I had anticipated! Looks great! Fortunately for you, you have the right shaped face for almost any length of hair.
I, too, love that weightless feeling after a chop!
I think your new haircut looks really cute! But then, I've always had short hair.
Take it easy this xmas. I look at this all the time. I love knowing what is going on with you,
I love it!! I need to get mine cut again, now you've made me even more antsy to get it done.
I've been listing my hair online to sell it since October. I was selling a 13" pony tail that #1 cut off this Fall to increase our revenue. Over the two months, I've received some creepy offers, including $1,000 if I set up a webcam showing me cutting my daughter's hair, or $300 to let this guy cut my hair to a pixie style and I would keep the hair to sell to someone else. I passed on a legitimate offer of $850 from a buyer in India because I've had bad experiences with foreign postal services. Since October, the amount of listings has increased and my offers have decreased (down to $70--lame!). I'm hoping it's because people need Christmas money and that I can get big offers again in a few months.
I've heard that Locks of Love doesn't actually make wigs. They take donated hair and sell it to the same buyers I'm looking for. Maybe they buy wigs with the money, I'm not sure. But that kind of turned me off from donating. Plus, I could use the cash on a trip to Connecticut or Covelo. Ahh, someday.
For those of you contemplating a short cut, I say go for it! I've styled my hair differently for five days now. It's fun. If you hate the new 'do, it will always grow back, right?
Min--I'm sorry you're stuck with short hair. I learned that the average hair length for humans is 6-15". When your hair reaches its maximum, the strands fall out and grow back in. Weird!
Interesting. Very interesting.
And creepy indeed!
You have styled your hair differently for five days? I'm coming down for a lesson. I find it just the opposite. With short hair I can only find one way to sytle it. With long hair, I found a dozen ways to style it. Once again, it must be the luck of being you.
(and gosh, I have an 10" pony tail I cut off 10 years ago. I guess I should have sold it -- $850, who knew?!)
SO CUTE!!!!! I love the new 'do!
... a trip to Connecticut?!?! I think that sounds like a great idea! ;)
I think it sounds great, too!
